Over the last six years, local residents and a few friends have transformed this weed infested patch into a healthy remnant of Tuckeroo-Banksia forest, a critically endangered rainforest community.
If you wander along the paths to the east or west you can see the transition from very healthy to recovering vegetation as the volunteers move north.
You can join them here most Mondays from 8am, and would be very welcome.
Locals can also help by keeping cats indoors especially at night, and putting all garden clippings in the green bin.
If you use iNaturalist, you could add observations within this forest.
Here’s what there is so far on Inaturalist in the surrounding area.
With much thanks to Bellingen Shire Council’s Environmental Levy Community Fund
